You know the old adage, are you a "Betty" or a "Veronica" - I'm definitely a Betty - when you're asked to describe yourself. Or for you guys - are you Clooney or Rogin? Anyway you get my point. Characteristics of people can be packaged up to be used to describe who you are in terms of super heros, icing flavors (are you a vanilla or chocolate?) or other analogies.
The dictionary says that analogy is : resemblance in some particulars
between things otherwise unlike : similarity b: comparison based on such
resemblance.
So this a.m. after staying up late to watch all of the commentators on the debates, I wondered "if the candidates were a wine, what wine would they be?"
*for those who aren't in the know ABC is Anything But Chardonnay
John McCain - mature, feisty, peppery, chewy, unpredictable, high alcohol - a central coast Zinfandel
Joe Biden - working class, not fussy, bright, ages well, great with pizza - Chianti
Sarah Palin - floral, fruity, full bodied, crisp acidity, new kid on the block, lingers on the palate - Viognier
So now will I never again be able to eat pizza and drink Chianti without thinking Biden?
And what about Hillary? I just can't resist this quote from http://www.appellationamerica.com.
"Being on top is never easy, and the jealous backlash that calls itself 'ABC' is an insult to your greatness. Rare glimpses of your true personality reveal angular cheekbones underneath all the makeup, and steely eyes that can be sharp and engaging."
Go figure.
